Celebrating
A Life Well Lived

Tasha Tudor brought wonder, joy and beauty into our lives. A woman who from early childhood wished to live a simple farming life inspired many by her love of nature, animals and family. Tasha Tudor’s talents brought us to her special corner of the world. Her illustrations and stories enchanted young and old.

"Life isn't long enough to do all you could accomplish. And what a privilege even to be alive. In spite of all the pollutions and horrors, how beautiful this world is. Supposing you only saw the stars once every year. Think what you would think. The wonder of it!"
— Tasha Tudor

Nestled in the hills of Vermont, Tasha Tudor created a home set in its own time. Tasha wished to live the life of a 19th century New Englander and was influenced by Hugh Thompson who illustrated The Vicar of Wakefield. It was after reading this book, that Tasha chose to make illustrating her life’s career.

In her book Drawn From New England, Tasha’s daughter Bethany wrote, “My mother was not particularly fond of writing, but in order to have something to illustrate, she began to write little stories for children, often based on real incidents she had observed”.

As a child, Tasha loved to write and to draw and was influenced by such writers and illustrators as  Randolph Caldecott, Beatrix Potter, Walter Crane and Edmund Dulac.

Tasha Tudor was fond of story telling, of make believe, of creating worlds of fantasy. After receiving her first Corgi dog from her son, Tasha became a great fan of this breed creating and illustrating stories of fantasy about her beloved creatures.

We are given glimpses of her life and home through a number of books, Bethany’s Drawn From New England and  Richard Brown’s The Private World of Tasha Tudor among others.

I was happy to share the wondrous works of Tasha Tudor with my children as a young mother – and later in life enjoyed her works myself – for the sheer joy of it.

I am thankful to Tasha Tudor – for her influence in reminding us to bring a world of peacefulness, charm, tranquility  and loveliness into our lives and into our homes. I set out a special pink lustreware teacup in your honor.

"There is no peace that cannot be found in the present moment."
— Tasha Tudor

Happy Birthday Tasha Tudor – you were a bright star in the constellation of life.

Wishing you a very Delightsome day,
